Noted Scribes:
"Referee" : This was the pen name of Joe Leech (1882 - 1971) who was a reporter for the Wigan Examiner at the time. He later became editor. Joe also published a number of pamphlets:
War Diary of Joseph Leech: first printed in the Examiner between 4th and 25th August 1934. It is available at the Museum of Wigan Life, catalogued 942-736 E/0729
Cherry and White:
Soccer and Rugby, 50 Years of Association Football in Wigan: Published in 1946. It is available at the Museum of Wigan Life catalogued 796.33409 42736.

"Harricus" : This was the pen name of Arthur Henry "Harry" Downs who was a reporter for The Athletic News, a Manchester based sports paper. He later became secretary of the Lancashire FA.
