The Story of Wigan Town A.F.C.

Wigan Town Association Football Club became the third club to use Springfield Park. Formed in July 1905, the club operated for only two full seasons finishing next to bottom of the Lancashire Combination Div 2 in 1907/08 prompting their resignation from the League at the end of this term. The team colours were red shirts with white trim and white shorts

The format of the site is of newspaper reports and articles interspersed with results, including scorers and venues where available, to give a feel of the game in the 1900's. All text and punctuation is original therefore you may come across the odd word or phrase no longer in use today. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Wigan Town.....
